One of the coolest things about where SMP is located in
Maryland is the rich history surrounding us.
We've got Annapolis, with its quaint downtown area right on the
Chesapeake Bay, filled with historic brownstones. And of course, we’re only about an hour’s
drive from our nation’s capital. A day
trip to Washington DC always leaves me feeling sentimental and patriotic! Then
there’s Baltimore, whose seaports have helped make it one of the oldest cities
in the United States. Baltimore played a
major part during the American Revolution and the Star Spangled Banner was even
written just off of its shores. The wedding SMP was fortunate enough to capture
on March 1st 2014 took place within a little slice of Baltimore history.
We arrived at the 1840’s Plaza (www.1840sballroom.com) and knew instantly we were going to have some
beautiful photos. The vast classical
windows generously provided prefect lighting throughout the hardwood-floor
halls. After acquiring some small detail
shots, it was time to focus (pun intended!) on the gorgeous bride,
Brittney. She changed into her stunning
all lace gown with her mother and her dearest friends at her side.
Meanwhile, Adamm (the
groom), and his groomsmen, his father, father in law and even the little ring
bearer, were donning their matching grey Vans with purple laces! And those guys rocked some awesome socks,
too!
The ceremony and reception were held in the glamorous 1840s
Ballroom. The bride was escorted down
the aisle by her father as live musicians added a special touch to the
atmosphere. The bride’s aunts gave
special readings, Adamm and Brittney exchanged their vows, and then it was time
to kick off the celebration.
The food really highlighted this reception. Dinner was prepared and served by Rogue Fine
Catering (www.RogueCatering.com) and it was absolutely phenomenal. Rogue’s signature salad, citrus herbed
chicken, 5-Cheese macaroni and cheese, vegetable kabobs and a carving station
serving up beef topped with caramelized onions…every single recipe was
delicious!
Another stand-out during the reception was the matron of
honor’s speech. Katie, the bride’s
sister in law, said a few words and then, joined by the other bridesmaids all
wearing sunglasses, delivered an original rap performance. The laughter and energy she provided set the
mood for lots more dancing by guests and bridal party alike!
It was a good thing we all saved room for dessert! At the dessert station, a small MAPLE BACON
cake stood with a very significant cake topper – it was the same one that
adorned the bride’s parent’s wedding cake.
Surrounding the unique cake, were dozens and dozens of cupcakes - strawberry
cheesecake, red velvet and maple bacon!
Congratulations, Brittney and Adamm! Your special day was joyful, elegant and
delicious! We were honored to be a part
of it!
